    • Thanks so much for your kind request.

Due to our very small shelf space we do not accept book donations, other than new, current best sellers and books of that calibre.
      Thank you!

    • At this point we do not have an email list, but we will and you will be added to it! In the meantime please check out our Facebook page and if you follow us you will know about all of our events. In addition all events and new books are listed here on this website.

  1. Is there a way to check what the story will be during storytime in advance? Is story time scheduled even if only 1 child shows up? Is the story ever in Spanish? Do you have Spanish children’s books at the library?

    • Hi Sandra,
Thank you for your questions about story time! We can’t say in advance what books will be read that day. It totally depends on the age range of that day’s “audience.” We will always have story time – even if it is only for one child. We could definitely have a story in Spanish for that day if we have a little group of Spanish speaking children/adults. We have a selection of Spanish language books for children – come check out our display – and will always take requests for books to be purchased. Hope to see you soon.

    • Hi Marian,
I think we helped you when you called on Thursday. But in the future it is possible to check on the website if we have a book (go to books and then library catalog) or you can call us when we are open. If we have the book we are happy to put it on hold for one week.

  2. What does one do if… one accidentally deposited a library book in your book deposit container that is a Minuteman Library Network book? Not a Waban Library Center book? (I could have sworn that the sign in front said “Newton Free Library” at one point fairly recently).

    • Hi Cheryl,
As you are now aware, the Waban Library Center is not part of the Minuteman Library Network. Please be assured that you are not the first person (or probably the last) who has mistakenly returned a Minuteman Library Network book to our little library. When that happens, one of our volunteer staff will return the book to the Newton Free Library and the staff there will route it to the appropriate Minuteman library. We try to go to the Newton Free Library about once a week to return such books (and pick up Waban Library Center books that were returned by mistake to the Newton Free Library). You will be responsible for any overdue charges incurred at the library where you originally checked out the book. If you realize that you have returned a book to the wrong library, you can also call the Waban Library Center (617-244-0700) to alert us of the situation and we will hold the book if you want to return it to the correct library yourself.

  3. Thank you so much for your prompt answer! I will not make this mistake again, and hopefully this FAQ post will prevent similar mistakes by others. Now of course, I’m highly intrigued by the Waban Library. I will have to stop by during your open hours.

    • Hi Louisa,
Thank you for your question regarding reserving study rooms. Although unfortunately we do not have study rooms we do have an atmosphere quite conducive to studying. In addition, we already have several groups that have used the library as a study center at one of our lovely tables. Also many one on one tutoring sessions are held at the WLC. We hope to see you soon!

  4. Hi, I saw a prior post asking about space rental… We are looking for a space to rent for my sister’s baby shower (on a Sunday in October) that is focused on building her first child’s library at home, so it would be ideal.
    thank you,
    Rebecca

  5. I want to know your mailing address. I wish to send a contribution in memory of someone but do not want to do it online; I want to use a check.

    • Hi Jennifer,
Thank you for your question. Unfortunately, as a small volunteer-run community library center we do not have museum passes. I would suggest contacting the Newton Free Library.
