DONATE USED BOOKS

Finished that hot new title for your book club? Thinking of re-gifting those new hard covers? Consider donating these to the Waban Library Center!

In an effort to build our growing collection, the WLC accepts gently used hardcover books (or mint condition paperback books) with a publication date of 2005 or later. In addition to popular, new titles, we also accept hardcover classics in good shape (i.e. Edith Wharton, Jane Austen, John Steinbeck, as well as Children’s classics). Because of our limited size, we are unable to accept all book donations and must insist on accepting only those publications in very good condition (i.e. no damage whatsoever, no writing on pages, no foxed pages). We do not accept audiovisual materials. Donations that cannot be placed in our collection may be added to the WLC’s Used Book Sale inventory, or are donated to the More Than Words bookstore café in Waltham.

If you have used books that do not meet our specifications, please consider donating them to the Friends of the Newton Free Library, who accept books or other audio visual materials. You may drop them off in the basement of the 375 Auburn Street (Auburndale branch location). The current drop-off schedule is below:

  • Tuesdays and Thursdays 2:00 – 5:00pm
  • Saturdays 10:00am – 12:00pm
  • Closed on library holidays and the week before a booksale

Please contact us at friends@newtonfreelibrary.net with any questions. You may call 617-796-1386 to schedule a pick-up.
